I used to have a FAQ that explained how to re-purpose a wireless router as an access point (AP). But it occurred to me that some folks might be able to use a little more of a step-by-step, so here it is. I'm going to use the virtually ubiquitous Linksys WRT54G as the object of our conversion. Advantage is that the Netgear is double band whereas the Ubee is either 2.4 or 5 GHz, but not both at the same time. All this hardware is at basement level. From the Ubee runs an CAT6 cable to the first floor enabling to connect a different device. I have a WN2500RP range extender, however would like to use it only as a regular access point.
